Awesome!

My life without technology

I'm trapped in the Salem Public Library. This is my future. I can feel it. Apparently my neighbor won't allow cable guys into her backyard, meaning I will never have cable or internet again. I weep. Weep for my future.

I also have a bad cold and can't stop napping. My Mamaw probably thinks I'm on 'the drugs'. Bah.

Tonight I'm going bar hopping. In Salem. Because this is my future. Without cable or the internets. It's making me delirious. ACK!

Woe is me...

This weekend I lost my internet connection, my cable and my cell phone started going wonky. And I almost cried. And then I realized I was being a complete jackass for almost crying over such stuff. My folks are here and we're having a blast. I had a wonderful dinner last night with them, Vader, Muffy & Steph with good food and conversation and a lot of laughing. I'm heading to Indiana this weekend to see my two remaining grandmothers. I have a BBQ coming up with lots of friends attending, my backyard is gorgeous, I'm healthy and employed and so on and so forth. And I want to piss and moan about my lack of internet and television. The internet which I can at least get here at work if nothing else. Seriously, sometimes my spoiled princess bit drives even me crazy. Vader is so sweet she offered to wait for the cable/DSL guys on Saturday while I'm out of town and to tape the Amazing Race for my family tomorrow night, Cingular is sending me a happy new camera phone (just for you, Lovey) this week and I'll soon be up and running again.

Anyway, for those who have my home email address, no point in using it this week. Maybe next. Keep your fingers crossed.

But yeah, aside from my technological melt down, things are going well. Had a fabulous time in Maryland earlier this month. Visiting Spanky was awesome. It's been way, way too long since I've seen her and it was good to just kind of hang out. She thinks she's way too busy and I think I'm way too slothlike so we tried to balance each other out for the weekend. We'd agreed that Saturday we'd veg all day and it would be awesome. But let me tell you how vegging works in the Spanky household. I kept her up way past her bedtime Friday night - chatting and all - and then her friend calls the next morning at about 7:45 wanting to go for a hike. My little 'don't want to be a burden' self listens to her say a hike might not work and pipes up with, "We can go hiking if you want, I'm fine with that." Bah! Spanky wisely declines anyway, but then we compromise on a brisk walk with the dogs around 9ish. After the walk we all head out to the Farmer's Market for some veggies. Then brunch. Then a run to the grocery store. Then we make lasagna. And then it is 1PM and I am in awe of how much one can accomplish on a Saturday if one gets up before noonish.

After that, I introduce Spanky to the magical world of loafing and we spend the rest of Saturday watching Season One of Silk Stalkings and eating Lasagna (we did an excellent job) and White Cheddar Pringles (so good). So good.

Sunday was the sporting spectacular with me watching her play four different sports from 11AM until after 5PM. Girl has more energy than anyone else I know. The Soccer was meh, but the rest of it was fun and I got to sit outside in gorgeous Spring weather all day.

More on this stuff later. Tired of typing... Miss my internet. My cable. My phone. WAH!
